Disposing of cat litter environmentally

I'm using the wood pellets which are great but emptying into plastic bag to throw aways which makes no sense.
I have those biodegradable food waste bags but they're too small to tip the tray into.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

So glad to hear I'm not alone in hating throwing litter etc into general waste!

Do you have a garden waste bin? Whack it in there if so. We don't, so we take our woodshavings etc to the dump and put it in their garden waste.

We aren't supposed to put pet waste in the garden bin but the wood pellets can be composted if you have a compost bin or heap, or maybe someone who has an allotment.
