Cat hair everywhere!

Help me,

We have two very beautiful, healthy cats. They are both white with black/tabby splodges. We've had them for years now and I adore them, but they are so bloody hairy.

Their hair is everywhere. It's even floating around on my laptop at the moment. On the one hand, I've just been getting on with it and avoiding black clothes (I really miss wearing black but it's just not worth the de-fuzzing effort). However I'm starting to get a little irritated about it.

We don't have carpets, just a few rugs, but it's floating around the house everywhere. They sleep in our bedroom and one of them has decided that getting into my (and only ever my) pillowcases is warm and cosy, so I go to bed with it settling up my nose. And all my clothes and blankets are covered.

I'm particularly concerned about the fact that we are having a baby. I don't think it's healthy. We are moving into another bedroom -if my DP ever bothers to finish decorating it- and the cats will not be allowed in there. However it doesn't stop the sofa being covered all the time. Does anyone have any suggestions -short of shaving them naked-?

Dyson cordless is brilliant. But the Animal one is not suitable for long haired cat's. I had to buy a new one as it couldn't cope with the hair. But my friends with short haired felines love it.
