baby doesn't understand don't touch the cats and she sees me stroke them and wants to copy, cats are a little wary but are getting braver and sometimes headbut her for a fuss when I am holding her. she has already pulled the older cat off her feet by grabbing the fur on her back. I don't think the cat knew what happened as there was no reaction. the cats think I am being mad/unreasonable when I tell them not to go near her and sometimes make more of an effort to fuss us if I say no. if I try to fuss the cat away from dd she is watching me and reaching out as if to say "I can do that" but she is a hair puller and is far too young to be taught how to toutch cats yet.

how do I stop this ending up in casulty or at the vets!

It wont take long before the cats get sick of being grabbed and will give her a wide berth.

In the mean time I'd chop the cats claws so they don't hurt her it they do have a swipe.

TBH at some point all my dds have had a "smack" off the cat - without claws but enough to upset them - this is with 3 different children and 2 different cats. I think the same will happen my cats have been more tolerant of young children than they would with an adult - they just seem to know not to be vicious.

Try not to fret.
