Matted fur

Hi my cat has a piece of matted fur on his belly. He loves being groomed but hates his tummy being touched!! I was hoping this would work its way out however it appears to be getting worse. Does anyone have any ideas? I cannot get close to this at all. Will it resolve itself ? Thanks

You need to wrap him in a towel and carefully cut the mat out with someones help. If you leave it, it can hurt him and won't sort itself out

I have thinning scissors abs a knot splitter after I once cut my cat.
