i got a kitten from the cats protection league a few years ago, you have to take her for inoculations once a year, get flea treatment and worming treatment especially if she is going to get outside.

Biglips · 01/02/2007 11:10

it is worth getting them microchipped?

i don't know my cat has always come back when she's hungry and the vet has never mentioned it to me

nailpolish · 01/02/2007 11:14

i think a microchip is a good idea - my friends cat was pinched

clayre · 01/02/2007 11:15

nobody would take my cat she's evil and doesn't like people

shonaspurtle · 01/02/2007 11:17

Is she not maybe already microchipped? I got my cat from the SSPCA Rehoming Centre and they chip them before they're rehomed.

Might be worth asking Cats Protection about. Definitely worth it I would say for your peace of mind.

Hi Biglips - I'm getting mine done next month. I've got a voucher fom RSPCA.

She has had her vvaccinations and we will get her micro chipped.

Biglips · 01/02/2007 11:23

well her previous owner said nothing about her being microchipped and had never taken her to the vets either

shonaspurtle · 01/02/2007 11:47

Sorry, thought you'd got her from a rehoming centre.

Biglips · 01/02/2007 18:57

get her wormed and up to date with jabs.

SparklyGothKat · 01/02/2007 18:59

Make sure you have insurance, especially if she will be going out. My cat was shot last year and the bill was, in total, £1800 to fix his leg. Luckily we had insurance.

Indith · 01/02/2007 19:01

microchipping depends on your cat and its habits really I think. Mine used to lose his collar about twice a week so we had him chipped.
But yes, spay, vaccinate (will need yearly booster) and get going with flea treatment, we use frontline which you buy from the vet and us once a month.

shonaspurtle · 01/02/2007 19:02

Jabs definitely. Insurance because if something happened to her you could be faced with a massive bill. It's only around a fiver a month.

WriggleJiggle · 01/02/2007 19:08

For fleas don't use that stuff you buy in supermarkets, sorry, can't remember name, but its rubbish. Use frontline from vets.

thanks everyone for your advices
