Can dogs take piriton ?

Hey i have a half collie half Akita , shes about 25kg and has a wee skin irritation got told by vets to give her piriton but they never stated if it was tablets or syrup or if it was childrens or adults or what dose to give her , anyone know about this stuff can help ?

Didn't the vet sell you the medication themselves?

Yes, they can take Piriton tablets but please phone your vet (or their out of hours service) for a dose.

1 adult tablet is what I give mine. It can be any generic antihistamine, just the cheap one.

No they said ive to get it from asda but i was that worried about her i didnt realise they never said and been trying to fone vets and out of hours for ages now n i cant grt threw

Please don't give anything other than the drug your vet named and please check the dose with a vet. It is worth waiting to get through rather than risk your dog's health.

I know i just got told to out some soda cream on her tonyt to cool it down then sort it tomorow thnks for ur help

My dog got given anti histimines from the vet to help the itching of his ears they were called certirizine and that i could get them in boots if needed if i couldnt get to the vets for any reason.

Yes our vet has prescribed piriton for our terrier. I tablet a day the dog is 10kg. He has a skin condition that makes him itchy, he gets steroids and piriton
