when i was a child I always had birds, budgies, cockateels, and I loved them. Well the cockateels were a bit noisy/messy but were tame so I loved them anyway lol.

Now I really want to get a bird/s - dh needs convincing though lol.

so who else has birds?

my sister had a cockatiel (sp) but sold it as it was a noisy bugger how about a parrot?

I've always wanted a parrot actually, but tbh I can imagine the dog barking at it and then the parrot learning to bark like the dog .

I'd thought maybe a budgy because I could tame a budgy and it could be let out etc, or canaries because they sing so lovely.

We have a green cheeked conyer(sp?) and he makes a noise like the phone ringing, says dd's name whenever I open the cupbosard to take out a cup?? and calls the dog.
Visitors think it's fantastic, but is kinda annoying when you have just sat down, jump up for the phone only to find it is the bird.
He is a bit messy too, but the children like him and he is very pretty!

We have lovebirds. They can be noisy especially when the tv is on or DH on xbox. At the momoent they are in the conservatory cos i like to think they 'talk' to the other birds in the garden. It's not hot out there, rather dull today and chilly. But we wouldn't be without them. they are funny little characters.

We have lovebirds, started with 2 and what with rescuing from pet shops and people who couldn't look after them properly we now have 10!
I had cockatiels, zebra finches and canaries as a child and love having birds, plus they are a lot easier to have in the house with kids than dogs or cats as we only let them out at night!

That said neither of us have great hearing so the noise doesn't bother us but it annoys everyone who visits (apart from kids!)
