Travelling with guinea pigs

We've been offered some guinea pigs to adopt, which the kids would love and we'd love to look after them. But it's around 1 hr away, maybe longer depending on traffic. Would they survive travelling?

course, a box with holes in it will be fine, they're usually a bit scared travelling and will just sit there or slide about, so put lots of hay (ideally from their old home) in it.

They'll be ok but get quite stressed and will squeak a lot.

I've never had guinea pigs before so this is very new to me. How often (if at all?) should we handle tthem, and how many hours free exercise should they get as a minimum?
