oh give him some lemsip...

mumfor1standfinaltime · 24/01/2007 13:02

Our cat did this for a few days. The vet said sometimes they get things like grass seed stuck up their noses.

KezzaG · 24/01/2007 13:03

my cats got eye infections that started with sneezing. giving drops 3 times a day to 2 cats was not something I want to repeat again in a hurry.

TrinityRhino · 24/01/2007 13:03

give the poor puss a tissue and a hot water bottle

dejags · 24/01/2007 13:03

Cod get him to the vet asap.

Snuffles can be very serious in cats and they need antibiotics to clear it up.

Mine both had it and both needed AB's.

PS: if you have more than one cat - it's highly contagious. So chances are the others will get it too.

Easily resolved.

Mine are scoffers - neither went off their food.

If you feel up to it you could take his temp.

Catbabymummy · 24/01/2007 13:06

Despite the fact I have always kept my cat's vaccinations up to date, my Barty Cat still managed to get cat flu. He started off sneezing lots (I think it's quite cute - he always looks so surprised afterwards!) and then went off his food. I would take your cat to the vets to be honest, Barty's fine now but it did make him very poorly for a couple of weeks, he had to be put on a drip because he couldn't eat!
Apparently, like human flu, there are many different strains and your cat will only get vaccinated against the most common strains.

tortoiseSHELL · 24/01/2007 13:06

rescue remedy might help though - we used to give it to our hamsters, amazing stuff

ComeOVeneer · 24/01/2007 13:07

Hate to say this but my cat has had cat flu twice in the past three years and he has been regularly vaccinated. It is worth taking him to the vet as it can be pretty nasty especially in older cats.

dejags · 24/01/2007 13:08

Agreed Catbaby. My two rapidly went downhill. We nearly lost one of them.

noddyholder · 24/01/2007 13:09

I have never had mine vaccinated and only would go to the vet in a real emergency rescue remedy is my feline cure all.My big fat cat fell out of a tree and was limping My sister gave him a big dose of arnica and rescue remedy and he was fine he next day

Oati · 24/01/2007 13:11
