Bloody Dog Borstal

Watching this at the moment. This woman has a black lab who has a habit of barking in the night, she takes him out every night when he gets her up. She's gone to Dog Borstal, and has been assigned the woman trainer who has coached her to get up as soon as her dog barks in the night, and go to the room where the dog is, and shout "quiet!" and throw a glass of water in her dog's face! WTF?!! I wouldn't dream of treating my dogs like that. Watching that has made me and made DS1 cry.

oh dear, doggy borstal is quite extreme. i prefer 'it's me or the dog'.

colditz · 19/01/2007 20:29

ok, how else could she approach it?

MummyPenguin · 19/01/2007 20:33

I prefer It's me or the dog too. I don't know what else she could do, but I wouldn't do that. Perhaps ignoring, as difficult as that might be. Perhaps letting the dog sleep on the landing outside her room with a baby gate so he could sense her nearby, but wouldn't necessarily have to be in the room. One of mine crashes out every night on our bedroom floor, it's fine, we're all okay with that. Can be a bit problematic when you forget he's there, and get up in the night for a piss and fall over him!

wtf?

MummyPenguin · 19/01/2007 20:47

Is that to my remark about my dog, or the water throwing on Dog Borstal?

Throwing the water, silly!

Answer is to ignore him.

MummyPenguin · 20/01/2007 16:32

Oh, thought so, just checking!

I've thought of another answer that goes with ignoring him - earplugs!
