Flora has been my little dog all her life (she was here before ds was born).

I have been asked to take in a 2 year-old Cavalier spaniel, who has been neglected and needs a loving and experienced family. I would like to take her in, and know we could manage her, but I don't want to break Flora's heart.
How do I bring in this young interloper and keep my lovely little old lady happy?

I think the best thing to do is to pay equal attention to each which is hard, particularly when the puppy needs extra care. They will most likely organise their own pecking order and should settle quite happily - try not to be too anxious as both dogs will pick up on that. Good luck!

I'll have the cavalier easy!

No we recently got a Manx kitten and my cavalier 6 was showing signs of jealously we just made sure he was given plenty of attention . Good luck your new dog sounds like shes found a lovely caring home
