a pack of raw sausages tonight. I fogot to take the bin bag out with me and when I got home 20 minutes later, the contents were all over the kitchen floor. From what I CAN remember, he ate the sausages and some stale (but not mouldy) bread.
How ill he is likely to be?

I read in the paper today about a puppy who fished a used condom out of the bin (the daughter of the family had been upstairs having a bit of hanky panky with her bf) the puppy then ran into the lounge where all the family were gathered and proudly showed off his find! Now the bf can't face going to his girlfriend's house any more! LOL!!

My BIL's dog ate a full pack of frozen chicken breasts a couple of weeks ago and he was fine.
Stupid dog.

Years ago I spilt some cream on the carpet in our then rented house - thought I had cleaned it up beautifully and without a trace. Came downstairs next morning to find that one of my dogs (then a pup) had eaten a neat circle of carpet the size of a dinner plate on the offending spot... The only one who felt sick was me!

the birth control pills have reminded me of this one...
one of our labs who has hip dysplasia and arthritis- poor love- one ate a whole strip of doctor prescribed ibuprofen tablets i had been given for a terrible ear infection to help with the pain. i had visions of having to have her pumped but she was fine. not sleepy or lethargic, just acted like a puppy for 3 days solid!! she was totally pain free and loved it! the vet, however, didnt recommend it again.
she obviously still has hip dysplasia and arthritis as a secondary condition but she no longer needs painkillers. it was just while scar tissue was building up in the joints after her operation.
i thought she would die though after taking all the tablets! silly doggy! lol

Our childhood dog (Ben) had a penchant for~

watches, ate many!

Chairs, ate a couple.

Lino, ate it the day it was laid!

Wet plaster, dug it off the walls before it had time to dry.

At the time I thought my Dad was being unreasonable when he talked of rehoming him!

He turned out to be an angel of a dog.
I still think of him with a smile.

My dog was fine after eating the raw sausages in the end. He often eats hair and ends up with poo hanging out! DH has the job to get rid of it, using a stick!

When the puppies were 5 weeks they ate the entire carcases of two chickens wrapped in tin foil - made for some very sparkly poo !

Since then Guinness has eaten condoms , underwear (only ever mine not dh's however), a packet of ibuprofen .

On a regular basis both labs eat dead decaying rabbits, never seems to do them any harm.

southeastastra · 29/12/2006 00:07

hahah! sparkly poo

Not a funny one, but my puppy ate some stinking iris. We live in a rented house-hadn't got a clue what plants were in the garden. Vet and I did't work out what was making him so ill till afterwards, but was touch and go with him for a while-vet a friend and later admitted he thought he wasn't going to be able to save him. So if you have a stinking iris and a dog-dig it up!

We grew up with a dog who used to eat our dolls clothes, and our socks and knickers! My dog regularly eats bits of dead animals she finds and animal poo. When i was pregnant people kept saying about horrible nappies etc, I said if I can clear up dog vomit containing poo and dead animals I can deal with anything.
You have to watch some things though, a friends dog died after drinking antifreeze, it tastes sweet apprently and he found it in the neighbours garage, he died from liver failiure.

Reminds me of when my dogs were puppies. They hated wearing collars (they won the battle in the end!) & one day we found two hidden in the corner of the settee - they were experts at getting them off! We had the three dogs then & all three were without their collars?! We 'found' the other one two days later - intact (apparently according to DH) - when it 'appeared' in their daily deposit!!

And this Xmas we had a turkey joint rather than an actual turkey (thankfully as she would have had a field day with the remains of THAT!!) Anyway, poor DD was sick & (again DH informed me!) it was kind of 'elastic & stringy' (ewww!)
Turns out it was the elastic net-thing that comes round the turkey!!

Dog managed to eat the head from a teal while he was in the back of a landrover a while back.. ...didn't realise what had happened until later at home we heard him retching and went into the hall to find a big pile of sick with head peering out of it...
