It seems crazy that they don't have backup in place when dealing with a dog as big as an Ovcharka. They're beautiful, but absolutely enormous and I imagine even restraining them on a walk would need someone very strong.

Wow. How awful they sacked the person. And how bad they knew the dog was aggressive and hadn't told staff.

I just had to google to see what sort of dog they are and now I know what the massive dog over the road from us is.

The one over the road has bitten a few people. It also tried to attack my old greyhound years ago and the dog's owner was hanging onto the lead and getting dragged along the road as the dog ran to us. There was no way he could hold it.

What the hell?! So they Allowed someone to deal with a clearly dangerous dog then sacked them after it. Nice.

I find it odd that the only thing published about this comes from chat forums with almost the exact same wording as above.

If the staff member had been "attacked" by such a large dog, they'd need hospital treatment.

The hospital would call the police.

Dogs Trust would not be able to keep that under wraps.

Either this is completely untrue or has been greatly exaggerated.

I can't understand why dogs trust refuse to pts dogs who have huge behavioural issues. They can't rehome them. So they live out their lives in kennels. In what way is that a fulfilling life for a dog.

They do PTS for serious behaviour issues, that cannot be rectified by training.

They don't put healthy dogs to sleep. They'd class serious, untrainable aggression as a mental illness and the dog would pts on health grounds.

Thankfully such dogs are rare. Most aggression is fear based and can be rehabilitated by experienced behaviourists.

Dogs trust do have a special kennels at one of their centres for dogs they know won't be rehomed. Inc some with people aggression. I think these dogs as permanent residents have far nicer kennels, more interaction and I think are kept as a group so they're not lonely???
