One of my cat has fleas although it is been treated with advocate. I presume his brother has as well although he is out atm so can't check him yet.

How do I get rid of them?
Do I need to treat the sofas?
The beds?
The carpets upstairs?

Please help me get rid of them.

When did you treat?
Is the stuff in date?
Did you get it from a vet?

Devora · 29/10/2015 22:48

I bought some expensive stuff from the vet which I sprayed everywhere. Throughout the whole house.

It worked.

SpottyTheDogWink · 29/10/2015 23:06

It was from the vet and in date. I think we treated a week late this month because of being away on holiday. Should have treated before we went or got the cat sitter to do it.

Hindsight and all that. Lesson learned.

Now what do we do?

Vetkem acclaim through the house, lots of hoovering.
Regular advocate treatment each month for the cat plus a tapewormer every 3 months.

Thanks. Are fleabombs any good?

Can I treat the cats again? They were treated over a week ago and still have live fleas on them.

No don't treat them again. I would consult a vet about what you can use.
You need to treat the house.

Phoned the vets and have booked the cats in today for a free flea check and will buy the spray from them.

Any other advice?

Indorex spray is fabulous. I got mine online at about £8 a can.

That and Advocate in the animal sorted out the Fleamageddon we arrived home to after a holiday.

SeveredHeadsDragOnTheFloor · 30/10/2015 10:10

It's probably the late advocate dose that has caused the problem but I imagine it would be sorted quite quickly. My problem was much worse and they were gone in about a week.

It's most likely the house you need to concentrate and the advocate will kill them on the cat - it will take time as the cat is probably picking them up from the house

SeveredHeadsDragOnTheFloor · 30/10/2015 10:14

I got my Indorex from Animed Direct and it's now £10 a can. I imagine the vet will be more expensive.

SpottyTheDogWink · 30/10/2015 18:03

The vet is charging £25 a can Shock

We have hard flooring downstairs, does that need spraying? The stairs, landing and bedrooms are all carpet so they will and the sofas. How many cans will I need (small 3 bed)?

Do they live in mattresses? Do I need to spray them?

Just ordered two cans of Indorax from Animed to be on the safe side. Hope thats enough.

Thanks for all your help Flowers
