leaving goldfish

I've just found out I've got to go away for 4 days in the morning (family crisis). We have 2 goldfish in a tank with some real weed. They and the tank are only 3 weeks old. Will they be ok for 4 days without being fed? Or do I need to rush out in the morning and go and buy a food block thingy?
Thanks

They will be fine food wise, a feeding block will just pollute the water. Steer clear.
Make sure you change the water, adding dechlorinator before you go. Also, don't put them near a window as the light will cause more algae to grow.

Do you have test kits to check for ammonia, nitrite and nitrite levels in the water? It will take about 6-8 weeks for your filter/tank to fully 'mature'. Is there a filter in the tank?

I have tropical fish, and have left them for 2 weeks without food with no ill effects.

They should be fine-we apparently all overfeed our goldfish and they actually only need feeding every 2-3 days.

I personally would get a block just in case you end up being away longer-would be awful to come back to dead fish.

no, don't buy a block - they won't starve! They will just poop more and make more waste.

Thanks - there is a filter and a pump thing that seems to be working really well. i will have to be back by Monday/Tuesday for an appointment so I guess they will be fine, and pleased to see me with the little pot of food .

I knew you would all be able to help. Thanks again
