hi everyone, our 5 year old cat keeps returning to our old house about 1 mile away and across a very busy road! he has been 3 times in the last month but it takes him about 4-5 days to get there each time! Any tips on how to keep him with us, he has the same bowls and food and stuff but no catflap as yet as we have no where to put one really! do you think this is why he keeps going as he cant get in and out when he wants too? Anyone tried the butter on the paws thing?? we have moved 6 times since we had him and this is the first time he hasnt settled! help please!!!

How long have you been in the new house? I always kept my cats in for 2 weeks when I moved into a new house, then started letting them out gradually, and never had any problems.

Oh, just re-read, and see that you've been in the new house at least a month. Perhaps you just need to keep him in for a bit. I think the butter on the paws is an old wives tail. Sorry, tale. That wasn't intentional!!
