My relative's cat had got kittens at the moment and she got a daughter age 2.5, im thinking of getting a kitten but my DH said "she is too young and she will be tossing the kitten round like a ball" as we dont have pets.

My dd had seen and stroked these kittens but worried incase she start being heavy handed as she is very strong- she is 2.

Advices pls

The cats protection league won't give kittens to families with young children.

We rehomed an older cat from them when my youndest was 18 months and we had no trouble, they chose us a cat with the right temperement.

We have had kittens since but my dd was 7 then. Kittens can be hurt quite easily and vets bills very costly.

Cat deffo! Then you can choose one with the right personality. Our florence was a lovely puss who guarded my dd and put up with the rough and tumble. This might help with advice cats protection league

Good luck. Our kids have gained a lot from having cats!

We had an 8 wk old kitten from the cats protection league with no problems. Quick home check and we picked it up an hour later my youngest was 17m . He does handle it a bit roughly and tries to carry it around, but its nearly 5m old now and gets its own back. He is learning if he hurts it,it will bite and scratch. The kitten seeks him out sometimes and gives him a quick swipe or it will lie next to him if he is on the settee. Cats are quick to get out of the way if mithered to much.
