Cat found in Bristol, September

First post so please be kind!

I took in a "stray" cat at the end of September (on the advice of a friend who'd found it).
After 2 months, my DH's allergy is driving us all mad and we have sadly decided to rehome (the cat, not DH).
I have heard about the "power of mumsnet"...I'd love to rehome the cat, or even try to find his original owner-can anyone offer any advice?

What sort of area?
Assuming you checked the cat for a chip? Contacted local vets and cat protection etc to see if anyone had reported it missing?

Yep, no chip so had cat chipped once we'd decided to adopt. On vet's advice we put up posters all round the local area-Redland-and contacted several local vets as well as posting/ checking many lost and found sites. Vet thinks cat may have lived with an older person as he loves to sit on your lap and stare at the TV, even when it's off!
He is lovely- very friendly and follows me around the house, talking away.

He is a black male, about 5 years old, with a missing tooth......please ask around to see if someone knows him, thx

You have no idea he was a stray so as soon as you started feeding him he werent going home for shit. Cats arent loyal and go where there is regular food. You should have just left him he would have soon buggered off. If you google there is a few missing cat sites lije dogslost.
The fact you have had him chipped legally means he is yours so your chance of getting him a rescue space are slim.

Yep thx regionablitz, we realise that now!! We have contacted a few charities locally, two of them seem confident that they will be able to find a suitable match so hopefully all will be well. Lesson learned.
