So we have had a recurrent problem with fleas since the summer. I kept applying frontline and using acclaim no luck. Today i phone vet because its got to the point i am pissed of with money i am spending on a product that is not solving a problem. I find out that many people are complaining about front line and the are talking with the manufacterer. So fed up and advantage better work. Has it worked for others?...

Nope - gave up with Frontline several years ago, in fact I'm not quite sure what they still manufacture it as it's completely ineffectual.

We use Stronghold. Get prescription from vet, buy it from PetdrugsOnline.

Never see a flea on either of our two God I hope I haven't jinxed us now Grin but so far so good. Cats are 5 yrs old.

Our vet doesn't even sell Frontline anymore. There are so many new brands out now (I am in SA and we have a big tick and flea problem here), but I use Advantix. The only reason for using this one though, is that I have a Lab who is a water lover and swims a lot. This one only has to be on for 30 mins before he can swim, as the others were 2-3 days and there is no way of keeping my 50kg lab out the pool for 2-3 days we tried all sorts, even barricading it, but he still got through

But when I was at the vet last week getting it, I see there is a new tablet form. This one last for 3 months instead of 1 which is what Advantix is. Its is just so terribly expensive though, having two large breed dogs, I just couldn't afford it this month, but I think it will be a good one to try.

Advantix works well. My black Lab is hard to find ticks on, and a day after applying it I found 3 dead ones on the floor...

But we seem to have more of a tick problem than a flea one...

I've never liked Frontline. Stronghold worked really well for us for years, but we are now using Advocate for the added tick protection

I complained to the vet that it wasn't working and he gave me a long spiel about the life circle of fleas and how if you stop using it even for a month the eggs the previous fleas laid about the place hatch and jump back on. He was convincing but it's so expensive. I've kept it up, she's still got fleas

As an aside I'm so pissed off, our cat sleeps on a beautiful, expensively upholstered ottoman, leaving little flea poos. One if the kids spilt some water which turned them into streaks of bloody poo all over the gorgeous fabric.
