Why do cats....?

...always find a nice rug or some soft furnishings to throw up on?

Despite the fact most of our floors are tiled or wooden she had to find a rug to chuck up on -its the same every time.

What makes it worse is that its a sisal/coir type rug so not easy to get the puke out and clean

Uuurrgg fubsy. Heaven save me from old dribbly cats!

Thanks Bottomburp - hadnt thought of that. She does walk a bit arthritically. treatment so far has been food to make her urine more acidic but she doesnt like it, so if we have to go back Ill ask about xray. they did say she didnt feel like she had stones.

fubsy, encourage her to drink as much water as poss, can do this by adding water to food (if not biscuits).as much as biscuits no prob wd feed wet fd if trying to increase water consumption.also mash up can of tuna with a lot of water and make fishy ice cubes then every day drop one into water bowl.also make sure lots of water stations around house as when they get older and arthritic less motivated to move far for water x

Good ideas for the water - I think she is drinking quite a lot but its hard to tell. Water is right next to cat bed, where she spends most of her time, but I'll try the fishy water thing.

Oh god I hate cat puke.

Ours used to do this bag-pipe/bellows impression before hawking up and always on the most difficult to clean/expensive item in the room.

At least when cats make that noise you have a chance to pick them up and throw them out of the door to do it outside! Last year DD had a bug and was lying on the sofa, said "Mum I feel sick" then did an amazing projectile Excorcist vomit 2 feet across the carpet. DH (who's a nurse) always goes awol when anything like that happens, funnily enough.

gingeme, alternative name for cat is cooking fat. I was about 20 when I realised why my mum called it this

fortyplus · 10/10/2006 20:20

taffy101 - YOU'RE NOT ALONE! A friend of mine had a cat called Cooking Fat and I innocently asked her dad why it was called that. I was 16 at the time & he gallantly said it was because it rhymed with cat. I was about 30 when it came back to me & I realised the truth! What a sheltered life I had!
