She is 4 and has never done this before, why on earth has she started doing it now?

I have a pony that does this.
Stands at the end of the field, munching grass and thistles, then wanders to the other end of the field, into the stable, and pisses on his pristine newly mucked out bedding.

drives me mad.

I haven't picked up any droppings from his field in 2 years, he does it all in the stable. grrrrr

How annoying.I've got 2 cats and the youngest one (2 years old) has always done exactly the same. She can be in the garden all day and as soon as she comes in,she's straight in the litter tray.I don't think she realises she can "go" outside as I've never seen her do it before.

Who's garden does she normally go in?
If it's a neighbours garden, maybe they've changed their compost/manure to something she doesn't like or maybe they've put some kind of cat deterrant in their garden.Does seem a bit strange to suddenly come indoors after 4 years of going to the toilet outside.

My 4 year old cat has just started doing the same. She previously hated the litter tray with a passion and would only use it if we absolutely refused to let her out at 4am But now she is using the tray all the time. I think she's been spooked by the cat next door and doesn't feel comfortable going to the toilet outside.

She's a fastidious girl, and spends absolutely AGES scratching around in the tray which can be rather annoying

my rabbit was littertray trained until a few weeks ago. now he is doing all his pees and poops in his sleeping area.

My cat is 16 and has recently started doing it everywhere .

Putting the litter tray outside sounds like a good idea.
