My cat hasn't eaten in three days

My cat is about 20 years old. He has a good appetite normally and pesters us for good when we eat. For the past three days he's been lethargic and just lolls around in his basket. He's had a few sips of water but nothing significant.
I hate to ask but is this the end ?

I meant pesters us for food...

I'm sorry to say that when our cat did this it was, indeed, the end.

We took him to the vet and they said there was nothing wrong with him, but gave us something to help with his gums in case that was the reason. A couple of days later he was dead :(
