Getting a kitten - what do we need?

I've relented and we are getting a kitten in about a month. It would have been wormed but not vaccinated.

What do I need to buy, do, feed it etc.

I work in the day so it would be in the house alone. Do I need to keep him in one room, until he gets used to the house?

Thank you!

If it's been wormed already I would be very concerned as kittens cannot be wormed until 3 months and vaccinations much later. To have kittens requires mostly patience. Let the kitten roam freely around the house as they will acquire their own tastes and spaces. Don't let out for at least 6 weeks to get used to your home. Another top tip for encouraging them not to get out their claws is to gently stroke their paw and be consistent they gradually learn to put them away. Have lots of fun, kittens are great. Hope my advice has been useful
