My cat is missing

She is not quite a year old and got beat up last night by a much bigger moggy and she was hiding behind our sofa absolutely terrified poor thing. I suspect it was the first time she has encountered another cat on her patch as we live at the end of a cul-de-sac with not many other cats. Anyway she disappeared shortly after she ventured out from the sofa and we havent seen her since - she is a right pig and has missed at least two meals now. Have phoned local vets, cats protection and even the police (yes I know how sad I am) but no news. DH has searched the surrounding area twice. Have even knocked on the doors on the neighbours in the vicinity to get them to check sheds etc. I know that there isnt anything else we can do now but wait but cant help fearing the worst. Our previous cat was run over just over a year ago so I am really paranoid. Hopefully she will come slinking in shortly and demand food, fingers crossed.

She's probably lying low somewhere - cats tend to disappear when they're injured until they feel better - not saying that she's injured just shocked.

I had one go missing for 4 days and once for 3 weeks.

Hope she's back soon

Thanks - I did manage to check her over and couldnt find any injuries - but like you say maybe shocked. Just wonder how long she can stay away without a drink in this heat but I guess cats are resourceful. Thanks again Iota!

She turned up about 20 minutes ago and seems ok although her ears and paws are very hot so I suspect she may have been shut in somewhere hot. Hasnt eaten or drunk much tho just seems v tired. Bloomin pets worse than kids!

Arfur one of my cats was (and I assure you it was totally by acident as I and dh checked the room several times before shutting the door) closed in our bedroom for 2 weeks without food or water. We were absolutely devastated when we discovered him after returning from our holiday, and rushed him to the vet but despite having lost weight he wasn't dehydrated at all. Apparently cats can alter their metabolism etc to deal with those kind of situations and he is abxolutely fine. Our bedroom was another story though.

Blimey COV thats amazing, dont envy you the cleaning up ewww! I am just so relieved that I will be able to tell ds and dd that shes ok as they have been pining for her all day!

Actually the cleanning up involved the torn carpet and cat hair rather than "bodily functions" as I said the metabolism alters and so does the "waste" so there was virtually none of that.

It breaks your heart when you loose a moggy. Glad you got her back.I lost one for 5 months and someone found her and rang the number on her collar. That collar droped off the next day.My other cat went misssing for a month last year and a neighbour called our number we had out on the flyers we posted through the doors.Christmas day we got her back.
I love a happy ending arfur and glad its home

So glad she's home. If she feels hot she may have a fever - check for bites going septic

Oh thats a good idea thanks iota. She seems fine today tho eating like theres no tomorrow and is being unusually affectionate so I am pretty much convinced she got shut in somewhere hot. Will check her over just in case next time she appears for a cuddle tho! When I went to check on ds and dd last night I whispered to both of them that she had come home and they both opened their eyes looked up at me and said YAY then went instantly back to sleep - bless!
