FLEAS! Come and give me your best flea related tips

Just discovered that the little black spots on the dog are bloody fleas.

Have stripped the beds, and about to get stuff for the dog, and hoover everything - I am presuming that wooden floors/tiles are not so bad?

What about duvets? And the mattresses? Do I just hoover them.

This is karma for 8yo me announcing to my mum's Avon party, 'We have a dog and it has FLEAS!'

Put good quality flea product on dog Advocate, Advantix, Stronghold or Seresto. All have environmental control too. Reapply in 4 weeks time if using one of he spot ons.
Wash all bedding dog sleeps on at 40.
Hover everywhere then spray good quality household spray than contains an insect growth regulator as well as killing live fleas such as Acclaim or Indorex.

^^ This. Plus my top tip of sticking a cheapo flea collar in the hoover bag/ cylinder, they're worse than useless around a dogs neck but will hopefully stop fleas/ larvae escaping after you've hoovered the buggers up!

oooh, top tip with the hoover there - I have emptied the bag that I used today already.

Is it normal not to see them anywhere? I've only seen them on the dog.

I clipped her fur today, after I applied Frontline, and I picked off a few fleas. Maybe about 8 or 9 of the beasties.

Clipping after applying frontline may reduce it's effectiveness if you bathed to it will be ineffective.
Regular frontline has no environmental control frontline combo does have environmental control.

I bathed her first, then put on frontline then clipped.

When I say clipped, I uses the scissors to trim her a bit, so didn't cut off the frontline.

She has appointment next week at the groomers, and her coat was quite long and matted in places. I was worried they'd hide in the matts, so have her a trim.

She actually looks quite good. Am chuffed with my handiwork
