Best vacuum cleaner for pet hair?

My ancient dyson (DC07) is dying and I need a new vacuum that is fabulous at picking up cat and dog hair from carpet. Any suggestions?

Hi, we use the Miele Cat & Dog S5000. I think there's a newer version now (weve had it about 4yrs!) but I find it so much better than ny old Dyson at picking up my two long-haired Birman's hair out of the carpets and rugs!

I have a Miele cat and dog, no idea what version, is amazing.

I have two dogs and a Hetty (henry) I have had both the dyson animal and the miele - i found that the power heads for the pet hoovers are fanbloomingtastic the first time you use them, then get clogged up wiht hairs tht stop the brush ffrom going around and you are constantly having to pul them out, pulling out minging dogs hairs from a hoover brush is not a fun job!

I have the Dyson Animal. Have had it 3 and a half years now and have not a bad word to say about it.
