filling out insurance claim forms?

My claim form has ten words filled in on it and four print out sheets. For this I was charged £12.

Is this usual?

Some practices do other don't. We only charge a fee if the claim is being paid direct to us as we often wait months and months for the money. If you pay us up front we don't make any charge to fill out the claim.
Though in fairness even the simplest forms take 30minutes each to fill out as you have to trawl back through the clinical records to answer various questions. There is also the element that giving the false information on these forms is insurance fraud and our professional body takes a very dim view of them being completed incorrectly.
