strange cat behaviour

this is going to sound ridiculous BUT

we have a cat (who lives outdoors) but is very much a pet - she is about a year old and i have had her splayed.

for the past two weeks these other two black cats have been sitting on our garden wall / neighbours shed - only one comes in and seems to be scaring our cat!! so this morning the horrible black cat pee-ed onto the garden shed.

is this mating or fighting? just our cat was injured last weekend thought she may have been fighing

hi, if a cat pees somewhere it means they are marking their territory. So if your cat went near the neighbours shed then the horrible black cat probably didn't like it and might have had a fight with your cat if she is injured.

It sounds to me more like fighting rather than mating, you would see/hear them mating (cringy I know)

Fighting, or at least terrorizing. Most cats don't actually get into fights if they can avoid them. They would rather yowl, mark and sabre rattle until a winner is chosen.

If your cat has injuries on her head/face, she was fighting. If she has injuries on her back/tail, she was trying to get away from and fighter!

thanks for replies. we have been having a mini war with the intruders on my cats behalf - trying to scare them off - think its working
injuries to my cat were on her back and her hip showed no outward sign of injury but almost like her bones were damaged - took her ages to sit etc. - shes beter now again thankfully.

Am glad she's ok. It's horrible when furry friends are harassed in their own gardens. Sounds like the other cat is an un-neutered male. If he persists you can help her out by squirting the intruder with a water pistol. That should see him off.
