ear infection?

buffythenappyslayer · 07/05/2006 12:01

would that make him smell?he hasnt been rubbing it or anything and he was at the vets the other day to be frontlined, she always looks in his ears.

My springer used to smell when his ears were bad (frequently!!) but if the vets looked recently it shouldn't be that and he would probably be rubbing them. Wonder what it could be then? Teeth, breath? Just sniff him all over lol

i have!!!its his fur.hes got two coats but only one at the mo (i think!!) so imjust wondering if its something to do with his coats?(hes a japanese akita by the way,and hes 8 months)

I used to find with my collie that if I bathed him he'd smell again almost immediately because it's not good for them to be bathed and they go into overdrive producing oil for their coats.

This is singularly unhelpful I realise.

Perhaps change his diet. What's he on?

Is he scratching, my springer also had exzema (he was pretty crap tbh Grin) and that smelt vile too. I don't know much about Akitas - except that they are beautiful!

Just googled to see if there was a specific reason because of the breed but nothing particularly came up, there's a skin complaint \link{http://www.akitaclub.org/web/health/sa.html\here} that causes a smell but it seems unlikely as he's only a baby. The cats aren't spraying him or anything in protest are they?

buffythenappyslayer · 07/05/2006 12:21

dont think its that,at least i hope its not.the cat wont go near him, they hate each otehr!might ring the breeder up where i got him from and see what she says.also will bath him again to see if this gets rid of it!

That's a good idea, the breeder should have more experience of doggy pongs. Bless him.

buffythenappyslayer · 07/05/2006 12:24
