Triops - does anyone have any experience of them??

My ds3 was given a Triop Kingdom as a Christmas Present, which we've just started this week - eggs hatching as I type... these little prehistoric creatures are growing in my kitchen and it says in the leaflet they can grow to be 4 cm long!!

Does anyone have any experience of these little critters? Do all the eggs tend to hatch or are there some dudds amongst them??

And how long do they live for??

Any experience and advice gratefully accepted!

A friend of my lads had some at Christmas, and he kept some at home (well Gran's) and took some to school.

I know the last one at home died a couple of weeks ago, and some, if not all, at school have died too.

Ds got them for Christmas too. We only had one triop (think there were more, but they hatched when we were away one weekend and I think they were hungry Grin) and it died a couple of days ago. Ds was devastated...for 10 minutes. Think we hatched them in January sometime so must have lived about 10 weeks.

Ours took a lo t longer to hatch than it said in the instructions, but that might have been because I didn't want to leave the light on all the time, so the water would have been quite cold overnight.
