Hey :) Not much I dont think - once you are set up they are quite hardy and pretty easy to keep. Whats your set up?

My nephew has one which is a replacement for his first one which went missing, everyone who had been near the snake swears the lid on its tank was closed so I'd recommend getting a really secure tank! His second one is still going strong though and it's in the same thing as the first oneSmile

Ah yes! That is one thing - we sellotape the doors shut after losing her for three months!!! Funny the things you forget, was a few years ago now!!

Thanks for the replies :)

He's a baby so the reptile man told us to get quite a small tank for now the heat mat is underneath the bottom of the tank and i have a digital thermometer on the heated and the cool part of the tank :)
His water bowl is rock shaped and he has 2 hides on either side of the tank. The vivariums lid is on the top and it has 2 metal clasp lock thingys on either side

Yy to the tongs thats the first thing I brought Grin more because I dont want to touch the mouse!

They are quite cold tolerant compared to other snakes so its easier to get it right, but assuming you have a basking lamp set up too? The heat mat may be OK for very small babies (under the tank is good :) They shouldnt be able to get next to it) but when he's bigger he will definitely need a basking spot - that said its been so unspeakably hot here (bleurgh) that mine has only just gone back on again. The important thing with the hides is that they are small enough that the snake can touch the sides so they feel hidden and secure. Sounds like you've got it pretty much sorted tough :) Wonder if we can get a vivarium section in the pets threads now?

You can buy a guard for around the basking bulb x
