Pet insurance

My dog is 10 years and 4 months old. The insurance company put up the monthly premium from £24.00 per months to £73.00 (That's £860.00 peryear)
Anybody know cheaper and reliable insurance for senior dog?

Be very very careful about changing companies with an older dog, as they will virtually always exclude anything that the dog has been treated for previously. Definitely discuss with your vet first so you can make an informed decision, knowing what problems will not be covered. Pet insurance is nothing like house/car insurance as far as changing companies is concerned 🐹🐰🐺

Gosh that is a very steep jump. Have you had big claims in the lst couple of years? Would you mind if you said the name of your insurer.

I am with direct line with a nearly 12 year old for 28 per month. But I don;t think you will have much luck in swapping companies at this stage. Especially if you have any pre existing conditions

I am Shock that they can do that

I naively assumed that if you have insurance for years & years the premium stays the same, even if you claim - but of course it doesn't work like that for cars & houses, does it?

no helpful suggestions though, sorry, OP

The insurance generally goes up with the animals age unfortunately. But that is one hell of a jump and tbh I would be questioning that.

Use Go Compare or Moneysupermarket or any price comparison website. My cat's insurance goes up each year if I stay with the same company, but I get it back down to around £20 by shopping around.

I just had renewals through for my dog and cat, both have doubled, so I've shopped around and got both for £22 instead of £34 with my old insurer. Gone with Direct line.

As I said above, those who have switched companies may find you become stuck if there are any similarities to previous problems.
