Hi
My dog has to go under aneasthetic tomorrow to have a camers down his ear and have a card saying stave him from 6pm previous night.
Now does that mean water too?

Aw poor love. I'm sorry I don't know the answer to this but I'd be very reluctant to refuse a dog water.

I hope it goes well for him tomorrow. ATB. x

I was told to with-hold food from 6pm, water from 9pm when my dog went under for castration.

I think it depends when the op is

Dennis was op'd in the morning, so to be sure, I with-held both from 6pm.

HTH, hope it goes well too

cheers oops, dp thought it meant everything but i'm reluctatnt to not even give him water.
Thanks

They think he has middle ear disease so lots of possible surgery to follow tomorrow's check!

Go with oops.

I most definitely am not qualified!! (for anything!)

I must admit, when Dennis came home he was madly thirsty, and drank loads - he'd been 'banned' for over 12 hours.

parkj83 · 20/02/2006 18:35

Oops, let me know your thoughts - Dennis was thought to be 3 or 4 when we adopted him, and he was booked in for the snip before we even met him.

We were told, as below, to stop food at 6, and water at 9. Safety wise, I was advised to stop both at 6.

When he went under, the vets had a proper look at his teeth (he was rescued a few weeks before), and they re-aged him to be closer to 12!

No wonder he was thirsty when he came home

You could just give him a nice glass of wine to steady his nerves.

lol

Angeliz · 20/02/2006 21:16

bless him, he's hanging around for scraps as he was fed early!
He'll be in a huff for days, he makes us pay when we do things like this. When we got him 'done' very young (neccessity-indescended testicle) he sat staring at the wall for about 3 days and wouldn't look at me!

How did it go?

Angeliz · 22/02/2006 20:05

Oh he was in the dumps last night bless him
Both ear drums are gone apparently and they had to flush both. He has to go back in a few weeks but he was all wobbly last night like a little old man.
He seems much brighter today though and hasn't lost all his hearing.
Thanks for asking+
