Yesterday some one ran over and killed a cat on the road near my house and then just drove off. Somebody knocked on my door asking if it was mine, so I went to check fortunately its not one of mine, but me being me I couldnt leave it there and had to pick it up, its now in my back garden in a box, Ive asked loads of people if its theirs or if they know of any body who has lost a cat but no luck. Any way problem now is what do I do with the body??? I cant bury it in my garden because my dog would dig it up and I feel to guilty to just throw it in the rubbish!!! Help!!

Contact your council, they usually have a department that deals with removing dead animals.

Could you take it to your vet for them to dispose of it in a more humane way?

How about the PDSA?

Missblossom · 31/01/2006 14:51

would you believe the council wont take it because ive picked it up they will only take it from the side of the road

This happened to me recently, I took it to our local vet and put an advert in the local shop window. I later found out it belonged to a neightbour who contacted the vet and came round to thank me complete with pressie and card, bless her.

Don't let the vet try and con you into paying for body disposal though coz they might try. Failing that take the cat to the local RSPCA/PDSA and they will dispose of the body without trying to get payment from you.

Was just about to leave to take the cat to my local vet when a neighbour knocked on the door saying it might be hers as hers didnt come home last night, she had a look and cant decide if its her cat or not will come back tomorow and take it if hers dosent go home again tonight. So looks like ive got it for another night.Poor thing.
