Any advice to stop cat from plucking new sofa?

I must be mad. Just replacing our sofa and have realised that the weave in it is likely to be great fun for the cats! The existing sofa has a suede-type fabric on it which they haven't really been able to pluck but now I'm worried they'll riun the new one. WWYD?? Advice greatly appreciated!

Double sided sticky tape works a treat - they'll only touch it once! Then you can remove it once they've run around the house with a piece stuck to them!

Honestly, they hate the touch of it and it works wonderfully. I used it on my stair carpet (unfortunately after mine had clawed a hole!) and they'd stopped clawing within a few days.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try. I've been reading about 'soft claws' and wondered if they're worth a try too - although a bit more complicated I think.
