How much should they pay?

For teenager to go round x2 daily for 4 days.
To feed fish and rabbit
To feed cats and play with them for half an hour or so on each visit
Will take a good 15 minutes to walk round there.

So each visit will take an hour minimum.

Just wondering?

minimum wage x 8 + 10% tip? :)

If a teenager was doing that for me, I would offer about £15 - 20 for the whole 4 days ( I think) , although it would compleatly depend on who it was and if I thought they were actually 'playing with the cats' or just feeding and running, whether it was a friend/friends child etc. If they did a good job maybe a bit extra on top at the end. To be honest, now I'e written that I think I would offer £15 with a bonus at the end for a job well done.
I would have been more than happy with this as a teenager.

I don't think anyone would expect min wage at that age, that would be near enough £12 (?) a day which is alot for just feeding animals.

It's £18 an hour here for that so 8 visits is £144. Maybe a bit less if they're under 16?

Thank you!
Someone I know mentioned they might ask dd to do this when they are away and pay her for it, but asked me how much I thought they should pay her! I said I'd ask around Smile

Wow, I wish someone would pay me £144 for feeding some animals! Grin

Grumpla · 12/02/2012 17:11

£144?!?!

£18 per hour surely wouldn't include travel time though Laurie ...?

I think £15 - £20 sounds generous enough to motivate teen not to trash the place to do a good job in the hopes of getting a repeat gig.

The people that run the pet visiting business are 10 minute walk/3 minute drive from me. They also have half a dozen kennels in the garden (£23 a day for a dog).

It's expensive round here.

Jesus christ Shock £23 a day for a dog Shock
I used to pay someone £10 a day to do my horse when I went away!
This was back in the days when I could afford a horse and a holiday!
