Can you use the shredded paper from your paper shredder as hamster bedding or is it dangerous for them?

Do you mean instead of woodshavings, or as their bed?

I was wondering this too

As their bedding, I just thought in the name of recycling and with identity fraud it would be a good idea if it doesn't harm them.

Should be fine.

Slightly different scenario, but I used to keep gerbils. The only thing you couldn't give them was newspaper, due to the ink coming off so easily.

I don't know what hamsters are like as chewers, but gerbils are great (or should that be bad?! )

They used to chew whatever they could get their teeth into, including wallpaper!

We used to give them the cardboard rolls from toilet rolls to chew, plus some paper too. So 'ready shredded' paper should be ok.
