African Pygmy Hedgehog needs a new home.

I've had a pygmy hedgehog for 4 years now, since he was a baby, and he's been such a fantastic pet. He's snuffly, happy to be handled, and a keen little explorer. I adore him, and have spent a lot of time playing with him over the years.
Sadly, my new job is taking over my life at the moment and I genuinely don't have time for him any more. I feel he deserves more than to just sit in his tank and get food and water dumped in at the end of the day when I get home.
I'm devastated to have to do it, but I need to rehome him so he can get the attention he needs. Does anyone know the best way to go about this? I want him to go to someone who will love him, but don't see any way of guaranteeing he gets a good home.
But then my home isn't a good home for him either..... :(

Not sure of your location but this website may be of some help. I'd love to take him but my accommodation does not allow pets. :( Hedgehog Kingdom

You should check out this organisation: www.homelesshogs.co.uk/ They are a national organisation for taking in and rehoming APHs. Or you could have a look on this forum, there is a for sale section www.pygmyhogsuk.com/forum

You poor thing, I have an African Pygmy Hoggie too and would be devastated if I had to give him up. I hope you find a good home for your spiky friend.

I'm in London too and I'm trying not to be tempted to take him off your hands Confused

Hiya,

I don't know if you're still looking for a home for you hog but I would be interested in taking him on. I've been keeping hedgehogs since 2008, I do not breed them but have them solely as cherished pets. I have 5 at present, 3 of which were rescues that i'm in the process rehabilitating.

I would also recommend the links suggested by WichitaLineGirl.

Regards,

Lorna
