Advice on having a lizard as a pet

DH has been after a lizard as a pet for some years and I'm thinking of buying him a small one like a leopard gecko for christmas but I want to know more about caring for them so I can ensure we can look after him properly.

If anyone could answer the questions below I'd really appreciate it.

  • Do they have to have live food or can they have one of the complete foods for geckos instead?
  • How much do they cost to feed?
  • Is their environment expensive to keep at the correct temperature?
  • How much day to day care do they need?

Reptiles are specialist pets and require very specific care. I would suggest you talk to some specialist to find out exactly what equipment you will need, how much time the gecko/s will take to care for. Website Rescue Review.co.uk lists all the animal/reptile organistaions so take a look there! I hope it might be useful!
