my cat cost me 172 pounds today!!!

He hasn't been right for a few days, and I panicked and thought he might die over the xmas break, so took him to the emergancy vet, and it cost me 172 pounds he has lost 4lb in weight and he has white blood cells, which indicated an infection. He has special liquid food to eat and special water with meds in. He is only 2!!

@ the cost! Are the special food and water a long term thing or just until he gets over his current problem?

I was in shock too, I am on benifits and the vet said I could get help with costs if I went to a RSPCA or PDSA hospital, but when I have phoned them before they have refused to help me, just got the two cats and the dog insuranced and its 28.00 a months.
I had to take the money out of my savings for the house move, to pay for his treatment. Hopefully the special food andwater will only be short term

If you insured him before he got ill, the insurance will cover the expense- excess. Don't worry Mieow, that's why you pay 28 pounds a month in insurance so they cover these unexpected expensive treatments.

well he is taking his meds, liquid food, and water ok. He actually ate some turkey today He is a bit livelier than previous days

Are you on housing benefit? If you are, then PDSA will help if there is one in your area,you give a donation after signing up with them and seeing the vet.

yep on full housing benifit, but even though there is a PDSA 13 miles away, they won't see us.

That doesnt make sense, i wonder why?
