Owning a Pig

My dd would like a pig. She has a variety of animals already and is fantastic with them and providing approprite care for them all. However, I am not sure about a pig! Does anyone own one? What is it like being a pig owner?

Firstly even for a single pig you need to register with DEFRA as a holding. You are subject to farm animal regulations.
Secondly pigs are big, strong and stubborn animals. You really need to have proper handling facilities to look after your pig properly. They are very effective at clearing land/ will destroy your garden.
I am an ABM pig vet and my husband got a pig. It was a great relief the day it eventually got on the waggon and went to slaughter.
