My sister's new kitten had the trots for ages and tested negatove for the usual bugs. However, a new parasite has been identified that she was probably born with. The testing kit is available from the Dick Vet in Edinburgh - has to be carried out by your vet as the parasite needs to be caught 'live' in the poo.

I just wanted to say that we had a problem similar to this with our cat. She kept getting an upset tum and pooing big splats everywhere. She was in good health though. It wasn't until a friend asked what food we were feeding her, that we realised it was the meat in gravy that was the problem. Since then she's been on meat in jelly and we've never had the problem since.
