Missing cat for 48 hours

My cat has been missing now for 48 hours and i'm very worried :-( She disappeared once before and we found her in the roof of a disused outhouse round the corner - how she got up there i'll never know. She is only 1yrs old and is pretty small. Please send out hopeful/positive thoughts as I desperately want to wonder downstairs tomorrow moring and find her sitting there waiting for me. Miss her so much.

i really hope you get your cat back. Our adult cat onvce went missing for 2 days and nights and we were fraught. He did turn up none the worse for wear and we were so relieved. They do have a tendency to do this. However, our 17mth old cat went missing last November and we have not seen her since. I called all the animal shelters/cats protection organisations, rspca to advise them adn they were all very helpful. We put up loads of posters locally (and not so locally) asking people to check garages and sheds adn also called our local council because if a cat has been injured/killed they are usually contacted to move it Sad. I do hope that your kitty turns up unharmed. This is not at all uncommon but I totallly understand your worry. At least the weather is good. I felt sick with worry and couldn't sleep. It is an awful feeling and I too hoped to come downstairs and find her clambering through the cat flat. I wish you luck - I'm sure she will show up soon x

I hope your cat comes back soon.
Is she chipped or wearing a collar? Maybe you should make up some posters to put up locally just so people are looking out for her.
Cats are usually ruled by their bellies so if someone is feeding her, she has a second home and will not be in a rush to get home. Hope you aren't waiting too long for her to return.

It's so worrying but try not to panic - cats do this. Harry Potter the cat went missing for 3 nights earlier the year but came back to us right as rain. She had a few very minor injuries and was a bit slow walking/off balance for a while, but is now absolutely fine and sleeping at the end of my bed, occasionally looking up as if to say "what do you mean I can't stretch all the way out thus making it impossible for you to lie down?".

Fingers crossed.

Guess who has turned up this morning as if nothing has happened!!! Just looked out of my window and there she was - absolutely fine!!

Thank you all so much for your really kind words and for giving me hope. I am so relieved! Although a little anxious now as she's gone out again ;-)

Thanks again, it really did help reading your messages.

That's great news! It's horrible when your cat goes missing.

TobyLerone · 18/05/2011 11:51

I'm so happy she turned up :)

My cat has been missing for almost 3 weeks now. We've done everything, but she hasn't turned up. I know how horrible that feeling is, and I'm really glad yours came home safe and well.

Glad to hear she turned up safely, let's hope she don't stay away for too long this time!

If she isn't chipped, it might be worth getting her done and also make sure she is wearing an id tag. That's if she doesn't already that is.

Great news! I think dh had binoculars trained on Harry Potter's every movement the first time she went out again after being lost Grin

i wish our kitty would turn up - been missing since November so no hope now I guess Sad. Happy for you all though {smile]

Really sorry that your kitty has been missing for so long IsMyTurn
Its horrible that you just don't know either way.

A friend of mine had a cat that just disappeared without trace. Several years later, he turned up again!
Sadly he was quite ill, think he had a tumour or something so they were only reunited for a few months, but at least she got to spend the final part of his life with him.
I couldn't cope with letting a cat out, thats one of the reasons why I'd never own one.
