How to catch a lost dog ?

We've just gone out in the ar to a local park when we saw a dog (lurcher/greyhound but furry?)
looking very lost.

We;ve come back to report to dog warden to be told that no-one is available.

Very worried & thinking I should go out & catch him/her. how do I do it & will it attack me ? I think he/she is very scared.

Any advice will I trawl the net looking for rescue homes ?

can't get through to them. The local rescue don't have facilities to search...not sure what to do..

well that's just great

RSPCA say dog wardens have to search for dogs BUT dog wardens don't work Sundays.

Look like I'll have to have a look on my own : (
