Hi.
I've read with great interest the last couple of posts about gp's.
I would really like a furry little one around again, as we used to have to rabbits, and I miss them and their little ways!
The thing is we have 2 DS's. DS1 is 2yrs and DS2 is 4 months. We also have "Puss" the Cat.
If we were to get gp's, we would keep them indoors. I'm worried that Puss could upset them. (obviously I wouldn't leave her in the same room with them alone!) Would the scent of the cat upset the gp's?
Where is best to buy them from. I know that there are thousands of rabbits desperate to be rehomed out there and I would never buy a rabbit from a pet shop. Is it the same with gp's? I would like to think I was buying them and giving them a good start, not paying some greedy pet shop money to breed them merciously.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Many thanks.

Hi becca81, I can't help you on the cat issue, but I do know that our local Blue Cross always has guinea pigs in to re-home. They might have a centre near you?

Guessed that's what I'd get told! I don't mind though, infact it is more for me than the kids.

Agree with Beetroot about the cleaning, it's never ending, especially in summer.

Thank you chonky, will look now!

oops - x posted. I keep being tempted so I know where you're coming from, but at the moment a dog is enough for us.

Not to say that I won't succumb in a year or two - good luck with your search

becca81 · 25/10/2005 10:09

thanks. I'm trying not to go and look at the ones in Pets@home as I know I'll walk out with two! I looked at the rescue site and unfortunately none near us. I'll check the paper.
I would also love a dog, but we live in a very towny area and also the cat may not like it!!

If you do an internet search there are loads of GP rescue places, for example:

Bobtails

There may well be one near you

I often see ads in pet shop windows/ vets notice board - maybe put a 'wanted' ad up in your local vets?
