Recurrent facial abcess in my mums lovely cat, why?

My mum has got a lovely siamese cross, he came home with what we thought was bite, which turned into a huge abcess. Took him to the vet, they drained it, cleaned and gave him anti biotics.

It cleared up, two weeks later flared up again, burst all over her settee Hmm and he was in a real mess, poor thing! Vets again, same treatment, cleared up?

Three weeks later, she has just phoned me and his cheek is all swollen again, full of pus and he is so miserable. Were taking him to the vet tomorrow, but I'm thinking it might be teeth now?

Surely an abcess wouldn't come back that many times, the hole is huge when it bursts and the pus just pours out, its gross! (tmi)!!

Any ideas to suggest to the vet as they seem a bit stumped?

Not entirey sure if it's the same thing but I have a recurring abcess/sebaceous cyst on my neck that does this. The first time I had it lanced the Dr explained that this could go on for some time because they are very tenacious and it's not often that they can remove the whole gland that has caused the cyst. (Basically an abcess/cyst is a blocked oil gland/sac) Even a little of the wall of the sac can grow back to a full sac and the whole process begins again. I'm currently dithering over going again to get it seen too. It has settled down but there is still a lump so it's better than the clearly infected swelling it was the first time. Hope moggy feels better soon.
