DP let the cat in this morning, and he had foam coming out of his mouth. he kinda tried to throw up, but couldn't. i put him outside at the sight of this, not knowing that DP was trying to keep an eye on him. he looked really distressed and with lots of foamy stuff hanging off his mouth... he's not been back since this morning. is this anything to worry about?

Sounds like he has eaten something he shouldn't, you should find him and take him to the vet.

hope he is o.k

Sounds a bit like he might have got something caught in his throat - this happened to our cat and she had the same symptoms (she turned out to be fine BTW). No sign of him yet LL?

spooklymieow · 05/10/2005 18:35

One of my cats disappeared when he was poorly, I saw he was ill on the sunday night and shut him into dd2's bedroom, somehow he got out and disappeared, we found his body in the garden a few months later

I hope your cat is ok, if you find him, give him some milk, it should neutilise whatever he has eaten and get him to a vet.

i've been looking in the places where he likes to sit/sleep. also in the neighbour's gardens and bushes. i will go and have another look before it gets dark.

we shouted and looked where we could, but no luck. he might be in someone's back garden. there's a bit where he like to go which is full of prickly bushes and long grass and he might be hiding in there. i'll let you know when he turns up!

Hope he comes home soon LL and that you will not be worrying all night.

LilacLotus · 05/10/2005 18:49

They do tend to disappear though when they are not well (think someone else said that too) so don't blame yourself for letting him out.

LilacLotus · 05/10/2005 20:40

he has just come back!

Dp had been changing the water in the fish tank and had gone outside to pour it into the drain. when he was at the sink filling the bucket with water he saw the cat in the reflection of the window. he must have sneaked in when the back door was open. he was eating and looked well. thanks for your advice and support!
