cockatoo owners I need your wisdom

we are considering a cockatoo
are they very noisy?
they are ££££ - will a preowned one bond with new owners or is it best to get a baby?
where is the best place to buy one?
anything else I should know?

Have you kept parrots before? Do some intensive research - they are not for first time parrot owners.

Cockatoo? As in sulphur creasted native Australian bird that screech like freight trains, eat the furntiure, bite your fingers, cockatoo?
