oh what to do Sad Sad Sad

any advice gratefully recieved.

Im looking for a companion for her now, or,

so sorry this has not worked out well.

Do gerbils have to live together? I would worry about introducing a new gerbil as they might fight.

You may be succesful if you get a baby gerbil, We have 4 to minimise the chances of one being on its own. They don't do well as solitary pets Sad

Female gerbils are often less tolerant of new company than male ones unfortunately. You might be lucky, but do read up on how to gently introduce them to each other and be prepared for failure.

Actually, thinking about it, your best advice might be to borrow a male gerbil for a while and if they will breed keep one of the young females as a companion for mum. However if you don't separate the adults immediately after birth you will get more than one litter, and if you do, mum will have to raise the youngsters on her own which is tough for her (the dads are actually quite useful in caring for the young).
