Go and hoover every inch of your house.

Hopefully you caught them on the cat before the fuckers got everywhere!

I had to call the exterminators in last year, didn't catch them in time, one morning I drowned over 40 fleas in a glass of water.. they were in my bed Shock Blush.

Okay Frontline does not kill fleas instantly it takes 24 hours to kill all live fleas so if your cat goes out and encounters fleas in the environment you may see them on the cat. The fastest spot on product is advocate that kills them within 2 hours. The only product that kills instantly is what used to be called capstar, but that kills within 1 hour of admin tablet and has no residual effect.

our cat sleeps on our bed (at the insistence of my husband) we also have a 4 month old baby in the room. cat was scratching a lot last night. i am not happy. no evidence yet of fleas but what product is most effective and safe around babies (if there is one)? i need to get some today. thanks in advance for any advice - would frontline or advocate be safe round babies?

My cat, who rarely goes out, managed to catch fleas from a mangy tom that walked past the back door. Managed to not tell DH! Told him his itchy spots on his legs were midge bites. Bought a spray and sprayed everywhere (whilst DH was out) and threw away all bedding etc from where the cat slept. The fleas were in several places around the house, but had not infested everywhere iyswim. There were bloody hundreds/thousands of them.

what spray did you use coat and did it work?

coatgate · 24/09/2010 11:11

Just checked in the cupboard. It was Canovel, and yes it worked. It says it gives 7 months protection. I did spray it in industrial quantities though! Neer had a recurrence, but the cat is elderly and deaf and does not go out. Have a dog and he has never had fleas - amazingly for a springer.
